(John) (G) Far beyond your (Em)mirror, (C) far beyond your (D)dreams,

(G) Far beyond your (Em)moon sign, (C) far beyond your (D)schemes,

(G) Far beyond the (Em)brotherhood, (C) far beyond James (D)Dean,

(Bm) He was not James (C)Dean, (Am) is what I really (D)mean.

(Em) And where I am not the (G)hunter, (C) still I am the hunter’s (D)son,

(G) And we really all are (Em)women, yeah, (C) when all is said and (D)done,

Said and (Em)done.  (C)    (Am)    (D)    (Em)    (C)    (Am7)    (D)

(Rosanne Cash) (G) Far beyond what (Em)I believe (C) and what my father (D)said,

(G) And far beyond ge(Em)netic codes (C) that run til we are (D)dead,

(G) Far beyond the (Em)Catholics, (C) and far beyond the (D)Jews,

(Bm) I am safe here with the (C)mother, (Am) I am safe here, so are (D)you.

(John) (Em) And where I am not the (G)hunter, (C) still I am the hunter’s (D)son,

(Both) (G) And we really all are (Em)women, yeah, (John) (C) when all is said and (D)done,

(Both) (G) Ah, we really all are (Em)women, yeah, (John) (C) when all is said and (D)done,

Said and (Em)done.  (C)    (Am)    (D)    (Em)    (C)    (Am7)    (D)

(John) (G) The peeling of the (Em)onion, (C) the pieces start to (D)fall.

(Rosanne) (G) You begin to see the (Em)faces (C) and the shadows on the (D)wall.

(John) (G) Tearing down the (Em)missiles (C) the pictures start to (D)come:

(Bm) The image of a (C)rosary (Am) on the barrel of a (D)gun.

(Em)    (C)    (Am)    (D)      (C)    (Am)    (D)    (Em)    (C)    (Am7)    (D)

(G) Waiting for the (Em)big one, (C) I am living on the (D)coast.

(Rosanne) (G) Why do we de(Em)ny (C) the things we fear the (D)most?

(John) (G) I am safe here with the (Em)mother, (C) I am safe here in her (D)arms,

(Bm) Still I hear the (C)voices (Both) (Am) sounding the a(D)larm.

(John) (Em) And where I am not the (G)hunter, (C) still I am the hunter’s (D)son,

(Both) (G) And we really all (Em)are women, yeah, (John) (C) When all is said and (D)done.

(Both) (G) Ah, we really all are (Em)women, yeah, (John) (C) When all is said and (D)done,

Said and (Em)done.  (C)    (Am)    (D)    (Em)    (C)    (Am7)    (D)

(Em) Ah, we really all are (C)women, yeah, (Am) really all are (D)women, yeah,

(Both) (Em) Ah, we really all are (C)women, yeah, (John) (Am) When all is said and (D)done,

(Both) Said and (Em)done, said and (C)done,

Said and (Am)done, said and (D)done. (Fade)  (Em)    (C)    (Am7)    (D)

Tabbed by Charlie Woodward, I helped with the formatting.

Brad DeLong (no relative of Rex´s) asked for the chords, ‘Bite My Foot’ Bob sent him to me,

I sent him to Charlie. So here´s the first Weekend Song in quite a while.

Women makes its first appearance on the second ‘Secret Tapes’ cassette, 1987, reissued as a double CD by Neon Dreams in 2002 together with the songs from the first ‘Secret Tapes’ cassette.

The version you have here, though, is the one from the ‘Bullets In The Hour Glass’ CD, Shanachie, 1992. Sung with Rosanne Cash. That´s Chris Mostert there on sax. Sweet.
