Leave Me Alone

Written by John Stewart and Randy Steirling

‘Leave Me Alone’ is on “Sing Me A Rainbow: A Trident Anthology 1965-1967”, on the Big Beat UK label, 2008.

I had never heard of the song until Peter Fields brought it to our attention.  Thanks, Peter!  Maybe John´s earliest recorded attempt at Folk Rock.

You´ll have to tune your guitar down to ‘in-between keys’ to play along.

I start sinking every morning, baby,
Yeah, that's when I
a(B)r(A)i(G)s(F#)e,
And (E)watch my world just fall to pieces,
Here before my very
(B)e(A)y(G)e(F#)s.

You don't
(E)know,
You don't
(D)know,
The reason
(C)why I love her (D)so.
You don't
(E)know,
You don't know,
You don't know.

(C) Why don't you leave me a(Bm)lone?
I'm
(C)lonely and I'm far away from (Bm)home.
(Am)There's just one girl I've ever (G)known. (G/F#)(Em)
(Am) Why don't you leave me a(F)lone?
Oh,
(Em)oh. (G)(A)(B)  (B)(A)(G)(E)  (G)(A)(E)

Time I'm told, yeah, to watch my soul,
And then I  shall not (B)c(A)r(G)y,(F#)

I (E)know it kinda raced my thinkin of a place,
Until the day I
(B)d(A)i(G)e.(F#)

She's
(E)gone,

Yeah she's (D)gone,
And I
(C)know I can't go (D)on,
She's
(E)gone, gone, gone, gone, gone.

(C) Why don't you leave me a(Bm)lone?
I'm
(C)lonely and I'm far away from (Bm)home.
(Am)There's just one girl I've ever (G)known. (G/F#)(Em)
(Am) Why don't you leave me a(F)lone?
Oh, (Em)oh. (G)(A)(E)  (G)(A)(E)  (G)(A)(B)(A)

(C) Why don't you leave me a(Bm)lone?
I'm
(C)lonely and I'm far away from (Bm)home.
(Am)There's just one girl I've ever (G)known. (G/F#)(Em)
(Am) Why don't you leave me a(F)lone?
Oh, (Em)oh. (G)(A)(B)  (B)(A)(Gm)?(G)?(E)  (G)(A)(E)  (G)(A)(E)  (G)(A)(E)  (G)(A)(E)
