Hunters of the Sun

Written by John Stewart

‘Hunters of the Sun’ is on the great “Punch the Big Guy” album, The Ship/Cypress, 1987, CD re-release by Line Records, 1990, and on “Neon Beach John Stewart Live 1990”, also Line Records, same year.

And so the story goes, and the tribes are still there.  The German brother of this song is Erich Kästner´s poem "Die Entwicklung der Menschheit" ("Einst haben die Kerls auf den Bäumen gehockt, behaart und mit böser Visage").  The conclusion is the same - the fundamental things apply, and not only in love and song and poem.  Very rhythmical guitar track, you´ll get the hang of it easily enough.

(D) They were catchers (C)of the (G)rain, (C)(G)

(D) Ooh, and all the (C)tribes were (G)gone, yeah, (C)(G)

(D) You know and no one (C)knew their (G)names. (C)(G)

(D) Oh, they said once upon a (Em)time, (C)(G)

(D) Ohh, back when we were (G)insane, (C)(G)

(D) When we were hunters of the (G)sun, (C)(G)

(D) Catchers (C)of the (G)rain, (C)(G)

(D) And we were hunters of the (G)sun, (C)(G)

(D) We were the catchers (C)of the (G)rain, (C)(G)(D)

(D)(C)(G) (C)(G)(D) (D)(C)(G)
