Hand Your Heart To The Wind (Piano Album Version)

Written by John Stewart

‘Hand Your Heart To The Wind’ is on "The Piano Album", a collection of demos recorded n November 1976 that was published by Neon Dreams in 2008, thanks to the efforts of Tom DeLisle, Paul Rybolt and Jeff McDonald.

The song was officially released on "Bombs Away Dream Babies", RSO 1979, CD re-release by Razor & Tie, 1994, same version is on the mistitled "The Best of John Stewart - Turning Music Into Gold" CD, Polydor 1995, which really is a reissue of the albums "Bombs Away Dream Babies" and "Dream Babies Go Hollywood" plus two previously unreleased versions of ‘Hard Time Town’ and ‘Children of The Morning’.

It is interesting to look at the changes between the two versions - some chords have changed, the chord shift is gone in the later version, some verses have survived almost unchanged, the meaning has shifted, though.

So hand your heart to the wind, let it carry you home is the last line of the verses of the "Bombs Away Dream Babies" version.  I like the version on "The Piano Album" better.  Very good song, and not hard to play.
