Dogs In The Bed

Written by John Stewart

‘Dogs In The Bed’ is from “Havana”, Appleseed, 2003.  Requested by ´Liner George Lighty.  Good song, hmm?

Checking the chords Charlie sent to Art and me, I picked the chords, then strummed, different rhythms – this is a song that sounds good (almost) any way you play it.

One of the dogs in the bed is the big, bad, black dog.  Most of us know the beast.  ´Nuff said.

(Bm)   (C6/A)   (Bm)   (C6/A)   (Bm)   (C6/A)

(Bm) How can I sleep at night when the (C6/A) evidence is read?
(C) How can I (D)sleep at night when the (G)world is (G/F#)turning (Em)red? (hold)
Did you hear what I
(D)said? (hold)
There's dogs in the

(F) All night I (Am)toss and turn, im(F)possible to (Am)sleep,

(Bm)  (C6/A)   (Bm)   (C6/A)

(Bm) How can I die at night with (C6/A)things all left undone?
(Bm) How can I lie at night with a (C6/A) slip of a tongue?
(C) And how can I (D)fly at night, a (G)prisoner (G/F#)of the (Em)young? (hold)
Did you hear what I
(D)said? (hold)
There's dogs in the

There's dogs in the

Playing hint: some of the C6/A´s are C6´s, I think, that´s there is a C-bass note.

Not a problem when you use your pinkie for fretting D to high E strings.
